Should be interesting in a couple weeks if I have officially saved this brew. Planning on priming with extra honey to add more to the aroma...I think with all my mishaps that t...

Re: My first Brewhouse kit

k guys this morning krausen jumped to two inches and had to chear a tonne of over flow on the lbk. Got home from work now. carboy has calmed right down. Took a sample from the lbk. so far so very good. Very smooth. Wow what a fermentation though. Looks like my beer may be saved.

My first Brewhouse kit

Well starting a new adventure this week. I just picked up a brewhouse kit for a honey ale. Not knowing what was involved, I opened up the kit and ....found a giant bag of wort. yes....a big ole bag of wort. Also found ph balancer for the water I am adding to the wort I am assuming, big package of co...

Re: Making the jump from 2.5 to 5 gallon kits.

A couple of other things I would recommend when transitioning to 5 gallons. 1. Brewing software, ---> learn to put your own recipes together ---> saves you money 2. Partial Mash or Steep ---> will add a freshness to your beers that is hard to duplicate with HME's or straight extracts 3. Full volume...

Finally some upgrades!

Well I know I have been away from the borg for the summer, but man what a summer it was. A friend of mine's father passed away. Turns out he was a wine and beer maker. As my friend doesn't have any interest in brewing himself, he decided to give me all his dad's equipment (honestly I asked him sever...

best way to regulate temperatures during summer.

Please note that I do not have an extra freezer hangin around ( bout a second fridge for my beers instead :)) I always leave my lbks in the basement but am having a bugger of a time keeping temp on a regular basis. Considered using a styrofoam box with a water bottle. Possibly a second cooler just f...

Re: What's the worst commercial beer you've tasted?

I think my worst beer is either Mongoose, or a bottle from Boundary Bay Brewery. It was a FULL bottle of trub. The most disgusting glass I had ever seen and refused to buy another beer from them.....ever. Like seriously. got any quality control there?
