Re: BrewDemon Stock Up Savings Items
I've bought several of their "stock up savings items" and had very few problems. Nowhere near the size of the orders that RickBeer said though. I've also had great results with their customer service whenever I've had a question or issue. Cool beans. I have also had stellar experiences wi...

Re: 2 brewdemon bottles flat
Is it possible you just missed putting sugar in the bottles? I did that myself a few times.rogermccune wrote:I bottle primed each bottle as the instructions said

Re: bottling with glass or plastic bottles
A long time ago I used to bottle in glass. Since I got back into brewing a second time, I've stuck with PETs. So right now, I still bottle batches in 1L Pets and 740ML Coopers O2 barrier Pets. Which I use depends on ABV and how long I intend to keep the beer. Except for defective caps (as in I used...

Re: Secondary Fermemtation
ebbz, all the advice above is right on and I have not ever done a secondary on a small batch of low gravity beer. But with that said, I secondary most every 5 gal and larger brews and I have reasons for doing it. 1} I binge brew, I have one 6.5 primary and three 5 gal carboys. I can get my turn aro...

Re: calculating abv
So, did you assume a FG of 1.015 after the priming sugar fermented because that is what was read after the primary finished or did you take another SG reading afterwards? So ebbz... the trick here is that sugar will ferment out 100%, where say if you were to prime with malt (IE to keep it Reinheits...

Re: Cleaning a Better Bottle
I did the calculations and use 1.4 Tbsp per gallon of water. I have read conflicting posts regard the amount of time to let it sit. I usually clean bottles for about 15 minutes with warm to hot water. I have read that carboys can be allowed to sit overnight.

Re: bottling with glass or plastic bottles
Hello all, a possibly quick(?) question. When do you decide to switch to only using glass 12oz bottles? Thanks to people here, craigslist, BrewDemon, and eBay I've got several boxes (cases) of the Mr. Beer & BrewDemon 1 Liter plastic bottles. However, thanks to my supervisor and co-workers I've...

Re: calculating abv
If you really want to know, I'd say just don't cap the last bottle. Cover it with a piece of aluminum foil and let it sit at room temp for a few days. The priming sugar should ferment out very quick and most of the CO2 will simply dissipate. That is a great idea, thanks. Being part scientist, that ...

Re: Secondary Fermemtation
My main reason was to clarify the.batch and separate it from the trub . I have read much and and thought it might make for a clearer batch. I was thinking about this for a batch of hard cider. I have not racked to a secondary for my beer and with the exception of some sediment I have not had a probl...

Re: calculating abv
Thanks for the replies, all. I was just looking for a more accurate ABV. I thought I remembered reading that the priming sugar can add as much as a half a percent to the final product. Sounds like an experiment in the works.

Re: Question about Beer. Simply Beer kits
I guess they figure at the point in the game, if you are brewing five gallon batches you have Everything but the ingredients. I bought a cream ale kit. It will be the first in the fermenter that I got got Xmas. Looking forward to brewing day.
